Down to the Wire
When you have open heart surgery, the doctor cracks open your sternum (breastbone). When they’re done, they wire it together with seven wires. I’m supposed to be very careful for two months after surgery to not push, pull or lift anything because the wires might snap. Tuesday, my surgeon told me about a guy who, a few weeks after surgery, decided to move a refrigerator (!) and snapped all seven wires. He had to go back into surgery to have them replaced. Why, why, why would someone move a refrigerator shortly after open heart surgery? Why? Why? Why?
